Building social capital in the community by
Creating Impact through collaboration
JAcob L. Sakil IV
I often wonder what should be the first first thing I share with anyone who wants to know more about me. Amongst many passions and vocations I have, I often set on the pride of being a Father and Youth Worker based in South London, England. My passion for community, young people and social action stemmed from being raised by my extended family who’s motto has always been ‘Pay it forward’. At the age of 16 I was elected as the Young Mayor Of Lewisham 2009/2010. With the world of civic life and community development opened up to me, my expertise has worked hand in hand with my experiences and all the wholesome intersections which adds to my practice. As the founder of American Bites and a experienced advocate for creating cross sector change. I’m always open to discussing how I can be of service. Expertise
Youth Voice and Community Development
With over 15 years experience in Youth Work, my expertise working with young people to build agency has resulted in many of them becoming active in their community. I believe passion is prerequisite for building capacity with local people to ensure sustainable community development.
Workshop Facilitation
Much of my learning from working across various sectors, has allowed me to design a person centred approach to deliver workshops with tangible outcomes. Objectives matter, but people contribute better when they feel SEEN.
Project planning and concept creation
Great ideas often stay great with the right plan. Since creating and managing several successful projects both within charities and local councils. I am always up for starting from the beginning or supporting a project currently underway.
Civic Engagement
As a Former Young Mayor of Lewisham I believe in the power and necessity of access to civic life. My journey so far and interests has given me a shareable blueprint of what civic engagement looks like in practice.
